It's been over a year since we saw AT&T first demo a
U-verse connected tablet app with second screen companion features it called "ComplemenTV" and last week it officially launched for the iPad. AT&T
U-verse for iPad can act as a remote control for any the company's DVRs in the home, as well as pull in extra info about the content that's playing. If you're away from home, it can still pull up guide data, program the DVR, or play a selection of VOD shows just like the U-verse's

The U-Verse app for iPad is still very limited. There are a few shows that you can stream away from home, but as for DVR recordings and live TV, there is no option. I use the DISH Remote Access app, which is similar to the U-Verse iPad app, but does way more. The DRA can stream live TV from any channel that I subscribe to, as well as stream many different movies and shows on demand. Additionally, I can stream anything that I have recorded on my DVR to my iPad. What I like most is that I can stream my TV where I want with DISH’s TV Everywhere™ technology. I have a 3G iPad2, so I can stream anywhere, whether it’s on my way to DISH where I work or in the library waiting for class to start. The U-Verse app does have a few good things on it, but it still falls short of the DISH Remote Access app.
